Ubehebe Crater
The Ubehebe Craters include over a dozen maar volcanoes. The largest one is Ubehebe Crater which is 0.8 km wide and 235m deep. They were formed 3,000 years ago.They are hydrovolcanic eruption. When the hot magma reached the water soaked bedrock, in an instant it heated up the water. Suddenly, the steam blasted away the confining rock at a speed of 70m/sec.
