Tech Staff Meeting Notes January 5, 2005

Current Top Priorities are:AZTN, Down Stations, TZTN

Be sure to tell Mitch as things get completed on this link to Greg's list.

Installation immediately after the first of the year.
Conference call with Golden scheduled for 2pm CST 6 JAN 2005. Anticipated hardware (need to verify) includes:
DAS: RT130, external GPS
Seismometer: STS2
Accelerometer: Episensor (I think)
Dish: Skycaster 0.74m
Post: 'Schedule 40' steel pole, two inches ID, two and three eights inches OD, supposedly available at Home Depot. Nine feet of post is required, six feet above ground and three feet beneath. They recommend a bolt through the bottom to anchor against rotation.
VSAT Box: about 12-15 inches high by 10 inches by 9 inches or so.

BB network upgrade. Radios are supposed to ship in a week. Gee, where have we heard that before. Great deal of planning and development to do prior to installation.

Got supplanted by I-40 installation in december. Not sure when we can do it now given the weather. Need to check with Wurth. Jim sent necessary hardware to Bob. Got 5TD's back from DTA and JF will take ownership. Mitch made initial contact with new IT staff at TEMA to get CUET on continuous. AZTN upgrade will get two I-40 reference online. This leaves only the weather service station not connected in real-time and it isn't clear what to do there. May be able to get on a tower there and freewave to Richardson or SFTN.

I-40 Bridge. Sensors and recorders are installed. AZTN dsl is working. Need to complete AZTN upgrade and established I-40 comm. Then we can do final housekeeping, tweaking, and verification. Will require adjusting and/or moving some antennas on the bridge.

Routine Maintenance. Holly's list contains the stations that are not operational.

FDL. Not much to report. JF will get with Horton for rapid deployment improvements.

Second Tier Priorities

Hazmat inventory is complete.

SWET hardware needs replacing. If possible, should be done with an upgrade in mind. No idea what that upgrade should be (i.e. go ahead and replace hardware with existing if appropriate) but most likely will be just addition of a CMG5TD. Need to do this sooner rather than wait for upgrade information.

Tryon visit to site USNSN station CBSC was not very fruitful. Doesn't appear to be any suitable hardrock sites on public lands. Ridge top is possible but obviously would be noisy. JP will call Meremonte with the bad news. Table this for now though it will come up again.

Parts for ceiling mount of sunlab projector (cables and screen) are here. Need to do it. Done and it looks and works damn good. Display splitter on order.

Battery charging station. Need a hood. What to do about a body wash?

All strongmo stations serviced within past 6 months. On regular rotation.

FDL flooding. P-plant is allegedly on this.

CVTN and ASAR optical isolation. Need to upgrade to year 3 hardware. Hardware ready. Filipcic needs to install.

MPHB. Mitch needs to determine current orientation so we can pull it and orient correctly. Helicorders look strange. Need to verify the data.

BB Test Facility. Need to install wiring and electronics.

VBMS. Proposal is submitted.

Timing. Greg has an easy way to generate a datastream that goes high when lock is lost. Need a mask to decide what streams to use. Need mechanism to produce alarms. BB stations more difficult. How do we automate the status stream or even get it back to Memphis for logging? (Save it to file with Scream?). Note, new version of firmware sends status to both flash and stream. Hence, information will be in gcf2ew logs, but how do we monitor that? Maybe not a huge deal with broadbands since both Jim and Steve regularly monitor. Would still be good to have a record though.

Cowcamps pit is done. A tower is being constructed at the top of the mountain that have handshake permission to get on.

Blohole property now in the hands of a private landowner. Will allow continued operation of the station but no vehicles. Walk in is about a half mile. We'll stay with this site.

North Carolina station refurbish. Keep node at LRNC. Modify to be the same as a New Madrid node and minimize internet bandwidth required.

Spare keys for new pickup. Mac is looking into it.

Pressure wash and paint MKTA equipment hut.

PII gain channels on helicorders.

long term routine calibration effort. Need to balance ideal with practical.
