Tech Staff Meeting Notes July 12, 2004
Current Top Priorities are:BB Upgrade, SunLab and ISIS Upgrade
Priorities
Greg was ruminating again and came up with this list.
Sunlab. Need to secure partition and move in.
Routine Maintenance. DBB PM's.
BB network upgrade. VHF transceivers should be here in about a week. Need to come up with implementable plan.
Battery charging station. Need a hood.
Still need to finish 4th channel up grade on two stations. Need to repair several that are apparently dead.
Few more strongmotion stations left for routine service.
ANSS.
I-40 Bridge. In progress.
MKTA AC.
FDL. Do we or do we not need additional boxes and cables for the CMG6 (John will discuss with Horton). Need "smoking room" (done). Laptops will be standalone. John is using Horton's 3 spare matlab licenses and his pc compatable sac read matlab script. After Mitch finishes the plan, need to get several people in there for a day to seriously organize, label, etc. Then we will have formalized check out/in, etc procedures.
Second Tier Priorities
Trim bushes at stairs between house 0 and 3. Re-align bricks on top step.
FDL flooding. Knock down that wall.
Need to remove OWAR and HAWT from processing stream. These have been decommissioned.
Still Working on TEMA firewall. A new IT person has been hired. Mitch is working with Wilkinson on it, but they are having other more important problems right now.
CVTN and ASAR optical isolation. Need to upgrade to year 3 hardware. Hardware under construction.
MPHB. Mitch needs to determine current orientation so we can pull it and orient correctly.
BB Test Facility. Need to pour the slabs, install the conduit and electrical enclosure, etc.
VBMS. Have an agreement for signatures. Need to finish proposal for installation funds.
SEKY. Need to submit proposal in June for installation by 9/30.
Timing. Greg has an easy way to generate a datastream that goes high when lock is lost. Need a worm module to monitor. BB monitoring is more difficult. How do we automate the status stream or even get it back to Memphis for logging? (Save it to file with Scream?). Note, new version of firmware sends status to both flash and stream. Hence, information will be in gcf2ew logs, but how do we monitor that?
Other
North Carlina station refurbish. Keep node at LRNC. Modify to be the same as a New Madrid node and minimize internet bandwidth required.
Pulling SMA's as convenient. Hardware to be cannibalized.
Calibrate S-13's.
Nagios. Reno uses this to monitor SOH for a variety of systems including nodes and seismic stations. Could be very useful.
Got batteries for GPS stations, need to install.
Gural EDU seismometers received. Works fine. Greg is working on power systems.
