Tech Staff Meeting Notes 01/06/03

Current Top Priorities are:PERC, ATHN, FDL, DBB, CPCT, GPS

Priorities

Station Maintenance. LNXT needs internal battery; currently thinks it is BACKUP-FAIL.
HENM has a horizontal and vertical pegged. All three low gains are fine.
ASAR has no contact with MSS-100.
Notes from Holly. Jim and John will work on it this week and next.

Ford repair. Mac will get this done the week of Jan 13.

ATHN. Steve needs another trip to install modem. Will combine with Mac to replace Star Mountain A/C. Can do this the week of Jan 20.

2002 ANSS. Done. Waiting on 3 sensors being repaired. Jackson is on hold pending comm progress at CUET. Mitch contacted Horace Chase at JSCC and they are considering hosting the station. SFTN needs work; freewaves, tower and dbb grounds, etc. New station files are online.

GPS. Marcello provided this todo list. John and Marcello can spend two days on this the week of Jan 27.

FDL. Need to wipe 4 latptops and reload. Need an image. Then investigate dual boot Windows/Linux.

DBB. Dish at LNXT needs fine tuning align? All aironets need firmware upgrade. Richardson needs non-groundfault receptacle.

PERC. Greg has a plan. Mac and Greg will work on it this week.

CPCT. Jim and Greg need to knock heads for a detailed design and plan. Then we'll see who all will go over when. Parker provided these notes regarder CPCT and other ET issues.

Second Tier Priorities

Oakridge. Mitch has no clue where we are on this. Last spoke with Martin there was no rush but needed Greg to make a site recon.

SEKY and VBMS. Two new NSN stations. Parker is looking into re-occupying the old CGNP cave sitefor SEKY. Mitch is meeting with various MS people in January regarding VBMS.

Timing. Greg has an easy way to generate a datastream that goes high when lock is lost. Need a worm module to monitor. BB monitoring is more difficult. How do we automate the status stream or even get it back to Memphis for logging? (Save it to file with Scream?).

Still need to finish 4th channel up grade on about 1.5 nodes. Still need a degaining subroutine for ISIS.

Computer Room Power. Need to hook in new generator when new racks are installed.

The original seisnets racks need new batteries.

Nodes need new batteries. Could extend life of new batteries if we had new chargers but this will take time we don't have right now.

Got another 20 ANSS sites to do for FY03. Mitch has contacted Jim Lawson regarding two OK sites. Will again use Charleston Southern U for two sites. SLU will put 5 in St Louis. Rest are kind of up in the air. Should have about 8 sensors within a month or two. Planned stations are:

Urban AreaNumber SitesOwner
St Louis, MO 5SLU
Knox/Chatt, TN3CERI
Evansville, IN2SLU
Charleston, SC2CERI
Cape G., MO 2SLU?
OK City, Ok 2OGS?
El Paso, TX 2UTEP?
Louisville, KY2KGS?

Other

Greg was ruminating and came up with this todo list. Much of it that relates to other staff has been incorporated here. Til I figure out what to do with the rest of it, it is in unedited form.

Monroe. Still want to. But when and where?

I-40 Bridge. Greg needs to spend yet more time in February after boards are done. Should have recorders in March. Then we can build the mockup and let it run for 3-4 months.

BB network upgrade. If funds can be obtained, wish to upgrade NMSZ broadband network to DM24 and duplex comm. Greg got a DM24 quote from DTA. Are freewaves the best option for the radios? Is there a cheaper lower power solution?

Mitch will check with Lamont on fate of network given recent ANSS installations.

3904/215E. Will expand into the closet and be used as a computer setup/testing lab.

Calibrate S-13's.

Battery charging station

Leanto drainage.

Giddings rebuild.

Permanent station at HOGG?

UM offers various computer application courses (e.g. Word, Excel, etc). the Spring schedule will be available soon. Check the IS Training Center website for more details.
