Parker To: Mitch Withers Subject: Re: staff meeting Hey Mitch, I have the following to add for the staff meeting: CPCT - If one person from CERI comes out we can probably get it done in about 3-4 days. If a crew comes out, I think we can do it in a day. I have called Mr. Stasser (the landowner) to see what the status is on the power, but he hasn't called back yet. As I understand it, the plan is to put the sensor on a shelf on the side of the cave passage, but wouldn't that give us the same problem that we have at Walnut Mtn. (the pit from hell)? I'm working on building/aligning PII boards. I plan to get to S-13 cal. soon. SEKY - Does anyone have contact info for Cujo cave? ANSS - I think you mean Steve at the College of Charleston, not Charleston Southern Univ. right? I think Robert and I can handle siting for Knoxville and Chattanooga, how firm is this so we can go ahead and get started. Do we want to consider co-sighting one of these at CPCT? It's in the heart of the seismicity and only a few miles from Athens. I would like to get some training in surveying. I want to make sure these installations are as close to true north as possible and that we are getting really good locations. Also, with the recent problems with the A/C at ett I have thought I might need certification in HVAC. Any thoughts? We have been having problems with break-ins around here. I would like to get permission to purchase an alarm for my shop and to have one installed in the Suburban. CCRT - I spoke recently with the forest service regarding the special use permit there. Apparantly, the guy that was handlling it before (who just moved to Mississippi), screwed it up so badly, they are going to have to start over again from scratch. The guy who has taken his place is only working part time so it's going to take a while. I explained to him that we have been trying to get this permission for over 3 years now, it didn't seem to encourage him at all though. Do we want to punt on this station and try to do something either in the Great Smokies NP or Nantahala National Forest (NC)? Do we have a firm, in writing, assurance that the tower at Starr Mtn. is staying? If so, do we want to do some work or have some work done on the roof? Are we going to be participating in installing a fence/razor wire? O.K., that's all I can think of right now. I can be available to connect by phone again if you want.
