The top priority is always repair of down stations.

Bill B was encouraging in discussions of funding for mkta rebuild phase2. He liked the idea of using a sensor that allows drop-in replacement for a future cascadia. Willing to contribute though not foot the whole bill. Mitch to include funding request for 5-6 stations in year3 renewal (budget year beginning Feb 1, 2027).
ET trip the week of 9/21 including finishing MGNC DM26 upgrade and GFM service with new batteries was a success. Brittany was the student volunteer and worked well. She was familiar with the territory, capable, and met the physical challenge. The consensus was we'd like to have student volunteers on future trips with similar circumstances (e.g. labor and porters are needed).
ET trip for LRVA is scheduled for the week of 10/26. It will need to go on a cell modem to avoid using the problematic fgtn repeater.
AG has four remaining stations in need of a PM visit. Horton is negotiating the next 5-year contract.
Dave recovered 1 Trillium 120PA, 2 Trillium 120, and 1 Horizon from SLU. All four sensors need a huddle test. If they're good, then Horizon will go to PVMO, one trillium will go to MPH, and the other two can be used for digital upgrades. He also recovered cables for all.
NHIN remains offline. Internet there is essentially non-functional and they don't have the router admin credentials. Given the uncertain future of SLU orphans in the vicinity we'd like to keep the station. That will require a cell modem.
Ditto CVVA. The hosts would like to keep us there but the internet there is problematic. The data for CVVA wasn't used in the analysis for the Aug/2011 Mineral VA earthquake because of contamination from the building. So this station should be closed instead of getting a cell modem. We could offer to help the hosts set up a waveform display using data from a different station (there are several N4 stations in Virginia).
ES&H paid a visit and we got a passing score better than most. They said nothing can be closer than 18" to the ceiling panels and the grinder in the expansion space needs new guards. The grinder should be addressed soon though we can slow walk the top shelf. Who replaces Jim on the HazMat signs? The Duty Table lists Cody as Primary and Dave as Backup for the Hazmat Inventory.
Can close: NMDM, WALK.
Preventive Maintenance. NM at 90% complete for 2026 and AG 55% (4 left).

Old note carried forward. USGS is moving forward with their SLU adoptions. Unfortunately they haven't yet changed any stations from NM to GS. Mitch will continue pushing for this after the shutdown ends. See this map for plans and progress.
All components on order for the MKTA "slim-node".
CERI agreed to pay for phase1 with hopes of reimbursement if an insurance payment is ever realized.
FPST and MFRT passed telemetry tests and are ready for DM26 upgrades. RELT repeats through MFRT. It is a good station if not in an ideal location. Consider converting it to digital as time and resources permit (e.g. close the analog epoch but keep the station open in hopes of a new digital epoch).
The MKTA node was destroyed by lightning induced fire on Aug 22. The replacement plan includes three phases: 1) get the node back online with the six digital stations currently on cell modems, 2) convert the seven analog stations to digital with cannibalized geobits, 3) replace the geobits with standard Depot hardware. Working on Phase 1 first and need to find funds for Phase 2. Note, RVAR noise is probably analog so don't close it.
MGNC and FPST complete. LRVA and MFRT to go.
The last two sets of DM26 hardware from ASL shipped Aug 10.
Congress approved Helene Disaster relief funding in December 2024 and it included funds to upgrade/harden 13 NM and ET stations in disaster declared states (TN, NC, SC, GA, and VA). We upgraded 4 stations in 2025: ASTN, CCNC, VHTN, and WMTN2. Upgrades in 2026 so far are ETT (May), ARPT (April), CMGA (June), DSNC (Aug) and TVNC2 (Aug) leaving two ET (LRVA, MGNC) and two NM (FPST, MFRT) to complete.
The budget includes: Supplies $5600/station = $44,800, Travel $5312, and Gas $2,038.
TOPM has a fallen tree in front of it that is blocking the solar panel. A return trip will be needed because we did not have all the saws and pruning stuff needed to clear the tree.
Server upgrades. LNXT is next. NMAD, High Peak, and MTTN also need upgrades.
NMAD node building has a leaky roof. Need to hire a contractor to make the repair, clean, and paint.
Remove abb hardware from water tower at Peckerwood Point.
CVTN/CVMS. Vaults are ready to reoccupy. Bob is installing a cell modem for CVMS so we can reinstall CVTN and piggyback. The station CVTN is still active in SIS but it has no active channels.
A six pack of beer to the first person who reads these notes and emails Mitch the secret password BoDiddly.

GMG needs a new cable for the titan.
LRVA is closed due to Helene damage. A crew was able to make it to the site and found a nearby clearing formed by the storm that could be suitable. It won't make the telemetry shot so will need to be a cell modem.

Etowah utilities is running fiber up to Starr Mt. They seemed amenable to sharing bandwidth with us if it can be made to work with our router. Could then get the camera going again. Camera is damaged and needs replaced. And we can bail on the Dalton link.
Dave reports: MACC was up and tracking when we got there. It looks like our transector surge device may have been compromised and was passing traffic intermittently. We went ahead and replaced the receiver, surge device, and upgraded the power system there to a more modular setup. Mr. White was very helpful and said he is willing to help remotely with anything we need on site.
HCEX fried another receiver. The station is prone to overheating and is redundant with HCES. Mitch will recommend Bob close it though closing a station is a foreign concept to Bob.
Need to complete PMs. Four remaining.
