The top priority is always repair of down stations.

Priorities

News & Highlights

John has to isolate due to a family member possible exposure. He's scheduled for a rapid test tomorrow.

2021 DM informal request was submitted and includes AG upgrades including a new vault at Z41A, the NM telemetry plan, four more NM digital conversions, and O&M for adopted SLU stations. Should know in a few weeks what will be funded.

Patrick needs to get a p-card. His application got lost over the pandemic year so he'll reapply. Jim can then turn over resonsibility for the FirstNet cell modems.

Data gaps persist. Gimli and bofur are overloaded. Steve and James will enable new hardware and offload some processes.

COVID-19 protocols remain in place and include:

NMSZ

There are four ISIS5 packages ready to install. Need to get them to Memphis. RDGT is up first. Mitch and Holly will figure out which are the other seven.

The Centaur/TC upgrade at PWLA is done. The good news is the sand around the sensors appears to have quieted the horizontal noise. The bad news is doesn't seem to be as sensitive to small signals as it used to be. It isn't clear why that's so and it's also true after applying a high pass filter. It may be worthwhile in the future to add a shallow vault and put a T120 in it. We could then put the S-13 back into the pipe vault and add a Reftek to get the three EHx channels back online for comparison.

MPHB continues to hang; it's an old serial to inernet DM24 system. The sensor hasn't been calibrated in three decades and has been in the borehole for nearly two of them. It is not being archived at IRIS and there is no metadata (Mitch has the original Guralp documentation though it is likely no longer accurate). We discussed whether to turn it off. It doesn't cost anything though isn't useful either. It is a nice borehole in a very noisy location so also not particularly useful from a monitoring perspective. It can be obsolesced as time permits.

Data gap problems persists. Winston is also affected. Steve an James will bring new hardware online and offload some processes as well as turn off the secondary internal waveserver.

SM upgrades (CMG5TD to etna2) are complete except for CSTN (no access due to coronavirus closures).

WALK needs to move, Dave has a new site selected.

ETSZ

NC is next up for digital conversions. These will all be Geobit/Trammel Links.

RCGA needs a telemetry upgrade. It has barely enough bandwidth to keep up. Note from John, "Since we turned up the power at GRBT and got it to connect reliably DYTN has been having problems, previously it was GRBT having problems. GRBT and DYTN both communicate with a single radio at Starr Mountain. I'm wondering if we need to try to balance the strength of the two signals going into the gateway radio at Starr Mountain. It looks like the GE radios give preference to the stronger signal."

John found a school near TRYN (Isothermal Community College) that may host internet for us. NC now wants a written agreement and provided a form to request a no-cost lease. Mitch will submit to legal for approval.

GFM has a recurring power problem combined with poor cell coverage. This was repaired but weak cell signal remains. Jim has a new 4G FirstNet cell router on order.

Replacement station for GTTN and RBNC needs a new plan. A cell modem would provide more options.

STAR Node

Freewave upgrades at STAR. There are about 4 or 5 links to the STAR node that use freewaves. These need to be upgraded to Xetawaves.

The comm link at STAR uses the backup microwave to Etowah Utilities where there is a comcast modem. They switched their primary to Athens where there is fiber. We'd have to pay to get on the primary and they're no longer monitoring the Etowah link for SOH. That now falls to us and we need to inform them of issues. How long till Etowah gets fiber?

The PC is no longer needed at STAR except for SOH. But those weren't working when the crew was there last month for Centaur upgrades.

John will send the STAR SOH hardware to James to figure out how to send alarms.

Move PMTN due to excessive noise and vandalism. The new site, CATN, is permitted and ready to install.

HPNC Node

Convert all HPNC stations to digital using Geobits and Trammel Links.

MTTN Node Move the atom to the host's rack and remove our rack.

GPS

Clifton is installed but needs comms. Needs a site visit to assess health and download data; there should be a year of data if it's been working.

AG Network

FCAR has a borrowed T120. The FCAR sensor is in the test vault where Dave found secondary firmware image is corrupt. The manufacturer recommends returning the sensor to have the firmware upgraded (there are two copies to facilitate updates and failure recovery). If it goes back to the manufacturer, then the paperwork needs to be completed to "move" the spare from the lab to FCAR in the inventory.

WHAR can be put back on the local network.

FCAR telemetry upgrade needs to be mocked up and installed. We can then remove the repeater.
