Tech Staff Meeting Notes February 1, 2021
The top priority is always repair of down stations.
NM problem stations
ET problem stations
Year 2 funding is in place and includes funds for 4 more cell modems.
ANSS is considering a 2021 remote NetOps. Zoom seems to be okay for small group discussions and for webinar like lectures. In past NetOps, large group Q&A immediately following presentations was useful, but much of the value of NetOps (perhaps most) is from small groups during breaks and after hours.
S5NC very noisy at long periods and needs surface thermal insulation (e.g. a bail of hay).
Data gaps persist. Gimli and bofur are overloaded. Steve and James will enable new hardware and offload some processes.
COVID-19 protocols remain in place and include:
Data gap problems persists. Winston is working but waveservers on gimli and bofur have continuing gaps. They are overloaded. Steve an James will bring new hardware online and offload some processes as well as turn off the secondary internal waveserver.
NM Broadband upgrades (replace refteks with centaurs) are complete except for HICK (no access due to crops).
SM upgrades (CMG5TD to etna2) are complete except for CSTN (no access due to coronavirus closures).
Remaining Refteks ready for Centaurs in NM are: PWLA, and HICK.
CLTN comm continues to have issues with the TN firewall. We will install the fanless pc with an active export to help the state IT folks figure out where the traffic is coming from.
WALK needs to move, Dave has a new site selected.
SLU Adoptions are complete except for newly added MCIL. PLAL needs comm. Cell modems still need to be switched to CERI.

John found a school near TRYN (Isothermal Community College) that may host internet for us (TRYN is outside the Choctaw license).
Remaining Refteks ready for Centaurs in ET are: CPCT, BCRT, CPRT, DYTN, SWET, and FPAL.
CPCT needs a new GPS antenna. Also needs a new coax for the upgrade. John will get over there this week to replace the antenna and restore datafeed.
ASL has lost contact with TZTN and requested assistance. John will recon this week.
GFM has a recurring power problem combined with poor cell coverage. This was repaired but weak cell signal remains. Need a booster.
Replacement station for GTTN and RBNC needs a new plan. A cell modem would provide more options.
BCRT had an intermittent 40Hz spike.

STAR Node
Camera at Star Mt was replaced and the new one is working great. It needs some quality time with the configs to make it more useful.
John will send the STAR SOH hardware to James to figure out how to send alarms.
Move PMTN due to excessive noise and vandalism. John has a site and sent a draft MOU to Mitch. The University did not ask for changes and asked for the WMA director to sign first, its currently in Nashville for approval. A portable was installed and shows no surprises, it should a good quiet site.
HPNC Node
MTTN Node
There are five remaining sepentrio upgrades that need to be complete by the end of the GPS budget year on 2/28/21. Done.
Radios at the Lake Co stations had a complex configuration and, while they worked on the bench, they did not work in the field. They need to be reconfigured and reinstalled.
Clifton is installed but needs comms. Needs a site visit to assess health and download data; there should be a year of data if it's been working.
FCAR has a borrowed T120. The FCAR sensor is in the test vault where Dave found secondary firmware image is corrupt. The manufacturer recommends returning the sensor to have the firmware upgraded (there are two copies to facilitate updates and failure recovery). If it goes back to the manufacturer, then the paperwork needs to be completed to "move" the spare from the lab to FCAR in the inventory.
WHAR can be put back on the local network.
FCAR telemetry upgrade needs to be mocked up and installed. We can then remove the repeater.
FDL needs better battery storage (should be on contained platform rather than the floor).
FDL cleanup continues. Rather than obsolesce the old mk2/serial fire-wire CMG6TDs, we'll put them in long term storage instead (fdl attic, mcgoldrick garage attic, or house 3 cedar closet are all good candidates).
