Priorities

News & Highlights

The 19th Annual Fish Fry was a great success.

Chris McGoldrick will retire as of June 30, 2019.

We will retire cell phone 5152 after McGoldrick's retirement.

USGS funding is in place for our three approved Deferred Maintenance items.

USGS may provide 2019 DM funds that would essentially replace all remaining older digital hardware.

NC is reviewing the GFM agreement. Mitch will contact Sue McBean, the park superintendent, to check on it.

The Trimble GPS pods for some Guralps will be impacted by a gps week rollover issue on July 28. Assuming 2019 DM is funded, replacement unit will not be available before then. Site visits will be required.

SIS

SIS areas of responsibility

XP retirement. ET will be entirely digital by summer 2019 if all goes as planned. We need a plan for NM.

RTCC on Ubuntu 16 is able to get /parameters but fails with /status-control on loopback and RTPD hangs. It works in Ubuntu 18 but openvpn does not. Wait for that fix then leapfrog OS to 18.

NMSZ

NMDown

Data taken from:
/dat1/seisadm/Working/NM/201905/20190512_200002_MAN

Down
CWPT.EHN
HOVM.EHZ
HTAR.EHN
MATM
MSAR.EHE
PPLM
TYAR
NHIN.EH*
NHIN.HN*
CHRM all down but EHZ.

Misc Problems
HOVM - spikes

Now that the lawworm link is stable, Brewer will discontinue the AZTN dsl.

There are 1 of 7 ISIS3 upgrades remaining (NHAR).

Make permanent repair receive mast for WYBT at HOPT install four 52 watt panel.

Strongmotion stations NAIT, SEAR, and NHIN are having trouble moving up the priority list. of the three, SEAR is most valuable. NHIN is probably a fuse but can wait until there is a new obisidian to replace the 5TD.

NODE Tasks

DBB:

MKTA:

LNXT:

Have a new engine control board to install in the generator at LNXT (aka the money pit).

NMAD:

AZTN/HDBR: Need to pull the 200' sensor at the weigh station. Probable water damage. There is no budget for this. Should we try to repair the sensor at MPHB and put it at HDAR2 (MPHB is over two decades old, possibly closer to three)? Should we turn off the HDAR2.*.20 channels until the sensor can be replaced?

CERI:

We now have several atom pc's installed but have no spare. Steve will order a spare.

Server room power is unbalanced. Need to balance when three new AQMS machines are racked.

IT scans flagged nori and folkworm, primarily due to apache. Turned it off on nori. Need to upgrade the Ubuntu OS but not while in production. We have four machines for the AQMS linux migration. If we used only two of these using VM for the rt and pp instances, then we'd have two machines to use to upgrade nori/folkworm. Mitch will check.

ETSZ

The upgrade at CCRT still has loose ends.

Conversion to Digital

We have 4 USGS funded upgrades, and will have 9 remaining under the Choctaw project. USGS deadline is 1/31/2020 so the Choctaw upgrades are the priority

Need to determine the revised budget and acquire funding.

Geobits are working well

Still having trouble with the Cambium radios though John has a working pair. James will take another crack at it with John's configs. The GE links at RCGA and DYTN seem to be working well.

Replacement station for GTTN and RBNC needs a new plan. A cell modem would provide more options.

Need to remove antennas, coax, and any other hardware from the tower at Greentop. John and Chris will schedule a trip.

/dat1/seisadm/Working/ET/201905/20190511_040622_MAN

Down
RCGA down
CPCT.HNN
GFM- sporadic down - interference
GMG.HNN
VHTN - sporadic down - interference
LRVA - sporadic down - interference

Misc Problems
CPRT- numerous constant gaps- basically unusable
VHTN.EHN

CPRT has many gaps though the telemetry is solid. This is Phase I of the Choctaw Short-term Plan

STAR Node

After the ETT upgrade, the node can be rebuilt.

BCRT had an intermittent 40Hz spike.

Move PMTN due to excessive noise and vandalism. John has a site and sent a draft MOU to Mitch. The University did not ask for changes and asked for the WMA director to sign first, its currently in Nashville for approval. A portable was installed and shows no surprises, it should a good quiet site.

HPNC Node

MTTN Node

GPS

Bob has funds for a GPS station in ET. Because sky view is in short supply, we need Bob to identify a few sites. John will then scout those sites on the ground.

Eleven receivers for 2018 Deferred Maintenance arrived. But they consume significantly more bandwidth than the older receivers. Bob is attempting to get cheap radios that provide the bandwidth though the user interface is much less useful and will require more maintenance time. Proposals for new cooperative aggrements are due the end of August at which time more tech staff time will be needed in the GPS proposal.

AG Network

Vilos is not in the allowed list of IP's for AR park internet access. Mitch will check with Cramer on shutting down smeagol and enabling its IP on a third NIC.

Z41A has a leaky vault. It will need to be replaced with a CERI style vault.

HHAR needs a bigger solar regulator. The new one should last a year.
