Tech Staff Meeting Notes January 4, 2019
The top priority is always repair of down stations.
NM problem stations
ET problem stations
Duty Table updated October 2017
There may be funds available next year for another round of Deferred Maintenance. Conversion of the NM network to digital is the obvious choice with Ogweno's EEW map as a guide for setting priorities. What other needs are there? Mitch needs a bulleted list by the end of the month--it need not be detailed.
NetOpsX will be March 5-6 at the University of Memphis.
USGS funding is in place for our three approved Deferred Maintenance items.
NC is reviewing the GFM agreement
There will be a GPS week rollover (max week count exceeds 1024) in April 2019. Some of our clocks may be affects. Dave Wilson at ASL is taking the lead to contact vendors for information on expected behavior.
Mitch asked Chris To delay his retirement to May, 2019 so assist with the ET conversion to digital.
We ran out of time for holiday cards. Need to write a one-page newsletter to send instead.
SIS areas of responsibility
XP retirement. ET will be entirely digital by summer 2019 if all goes as planned. We need a plan for NM.
RTCC on Ubuntu 16 is able to get /parameters but fails with /status-control on loopback and RTPD hangs. It works in Ubuntu 18 but openvpn does not. Wait for that fix then leapfrog OS to 18.
The four wheeler is now in ET--we need one for NM
NMSZ Routing service is just over half complete. Stations not serviced in 2018 will be high priorities for 2019.

I realize that some of these are sporadically down and that the .EHN outages are usually caused by another station knocking them out.

Misc Problems
HOVM - spikes make it unusable
MCAM.EHZ - drifting
There are 1 of 7 ISIS3 upgrades remaining (NHAR).
Make permanent repair receive mast for WYBT at HOPT install four 52 watt panel.
Strongmotion stations NAIT, SEAR, and NHIN are having trouble moving up the priority list. of the three, SEAR is most valuable. NHIN is probably a fuse but can wait until there is a new obisidian to replace the 5TD.
DBB:
MKTA:
LNXT:
Adjust startup delay in transfer switch settings to give generator time to warm up.
NMAD:
AZTN/HDBR: Need to pull the 200' sensor at the weigh station. Probable water damage. There is no budget for this. Should we try to repair the sensor at MPHB and put it at HDAR2 (MPHB is over two decades old, possibly closer to three)? Should we turn off the HDAR2.*.20 channels until the sensor can be replaced?
CERI:
Server room power is unbalanced. Need to balance when three new AQMS machines
are racked.
Conversion to Digital
We have 4 USGS funded upgrades, and will have 9 remaining under the Choctaw
project. USGS deadline is 1/31/2020 so the Choctaw upgrades are the
priority
Need to determine the revised budget and acquire funding.
High Peak will work with a single master at the node but Star Mt will not.
Geobits are working well
Replacement station for GTTN and RBNC needs a new plan. A cell modem would provide more options.
Need to remove antennas, coax, and any other hardware from the tower at
Greentop. John and Chris will schedule a trip.

CPRT has many gaps though the telemetry is solid. This is Phase I of the Choctaw Short-term Plan
STAR Node
Move PMTN due to excessive noise and vandalism. John has a site and sent a draft MOU to Mitch. The University did not ask for changes and asked for the WMA director to sign first, its currently in Nashville for approval. A portable was installed and shows no surprises, it should a good quiet site.
HPNC Node
MTTN Node
All GPS sites need PM visit.
There was a miscommunication with the Clifton site and internet access. Bob is looking at alternatives.
There was an internet "upgrade" at MACC. Need to reconfigure GPS networking configs; James may be able to do it remotely.
Z41A has a leaky vault. It will need to be replaced with a CERI style vault.
HHAR needs a bigger solar regulator. The new one should last a year.
