Tech Staff Meeting Notes May 3, 2018
The top priority is always repair of down stations.
NM problem stations
ET problem stations
Duty Table updated October 2017
The Fish Fry is Friday May 4. We have 52 people signed up.
There will be a GPS week rollover (max week count exceeds 1024) in April 2019. Some of our clocks may be affects. Dave Wilson at ASL is taking the lead to contact vendors for information on expected behavior.
SIS areas of responsibility
Make sure Mitch gets an email for any equipment change that will generate a SIS update. Philip Crotwell has an app that let's you do updates on your phone.
We've been inconsistent with portables in SIS. The data do not go to IRIS but arrivals do go to Comcat. Should the metadata be in SIS or not? Answer: While metadata for portables is allowed to be in SIS, its not required.
Ten node PC's were purchased and are in house. Nine are assembled and one has a bad memory module. The prototype was installed at MKTA and is working well.

There are 7 ISIS3 upgrades to do in 2018.
I40 Bridge comms.
PC is installed at the Law School with a public IP. It and aztnworm need
to be reconfigured so that aztnworm is only used for adsend; all other apps
are done on lawworm. Need to arrange a
snooper to install the radios. The compact flash (CF) cards are a known point
of failure in the Granites (2 of 7 have failed so far). We will purchase and
configure 5 more and install at the same time as the radio. HD4 with its new
CF will also be installed at that time.
DBB:
MKTA:
Purhased ten new receivers to fix the analog glitches.
LNXT:
NMAD:
Need to tune the NMAD node receivers (its been a couple decades). In progress.
AZTN/HDBR: Need to pull the 200' sensor at the weigh station. Probable water damage. There is no budget for this. Should we try to repair the sensor at MPHB and put it at HDAR2 (MPHB is over two decades old, possibly closer to three)? Should we turn off the HDAR2.*.20 channels until the sensor can be replaced?
CERI:
GFM and DSNC have polarity reversals. These were affected by the ISIS4 bug
but had their canisters replaced last year. Jim reports that the data
at GFM was fixed after the canister replacement on Nov 15, 2016.
See additional notes.
John did a hammer drop test at DSNC on May 2 and the data were discussed
at the meeting. The two drops on the north side show opposite polarity
when they should be the same but both drops on the south side were down.
One way to view that result is 75% show correct polarity so some uncertainty
remains. The data also showed the E/W channel is correct and the vertical
is reversed. John verified the wiring is correct. Further investigation
is needed.
Example from Nov 13, 2017
Example from Dec 3, 2017
Replacement station for GTTN and RBNC needs a new plan. A cell modem would provide more options.
Need to remove antennas, coax, and any other hardware from the tower at
Greentop. John and Chris will schedule a trip.

STAR Node
ETT north channel does not respond to lower frequency signals. Need to replace and repair the S-13. John suspects a leaky vault.
Move PMTN due to excessive noise and vandalism. The trees at Lone Mountian are too tall to get a signal out. Looking for an alternate site. Ability to use a cell modem would provide more options.
HPNC Node
New plan for GFM is to keep it at existing location and convert to digital with a trillium compact which enables using the existing vault thereby minimizing the amount of hardware and supplies that need to be hiked in. The first test of the digital link between GFM and hpnc was unsuccessful but this needs to be repeated with a pop-up antenna when a larger crew is available.
MTTN Node
WMTN pit is moved.
Need to add solar to PTGV and STLE. Done.
This is on hold while Bob is out of country, though Chris does need to
touch base with the landowner.
TN Department of Corrections owns 640 acres at SCCF in Clifton in central
TN with possible locations for the new GPS station. But none of the potential
sites are perfect so Bob needs to visit and decide which spot is best. But
Bob is in Buenos Aires so it will need to wait til June. The agreement can
be initiated in the interim and TDOC would like to combine this agreement with
the one for NWCC which has expired. (Note the seisnet agreement is from 2008
and has no expiration).
Horton would like to accompany on the PM for each station. He asked that visits be arranged around good restaurants. I guess that means he's buying.
Z41A has a poor connection with AT&T. Can we switch to Verizon?
HHAR needs a bigger solar regulator. The new one should last a year.
