Tech Staff Meeting Notes October 29, 2013
The top priority is always repair of down stations.

We have hardware for two ISIS3 upgrades: ARPT and NWCT.
Mag. 4.0 gain range problems
These stations had problems with the gain channel during the Magnitude 4 Missouri
event on Feb 21, 2012. It isn't clear to me whether they data channels saturated
or whether there was excessive chatter in the gain channel.

GNAR needs better insulating berm.
DBB:
MKTA:
LNXT:
David found replacement exhaust manifolds for the LNXT generator and is getting a quote.
The LNXT generator is leaking more slowly. Need to check it again so it can be repaired and refilled when we get to 5%.
NMAD:
G and D and the local EMA installed a 25kW generator to power that side of the building. If there's room power-wise would they let us power the rack from it too? We could share the maintenance of the generator. We'd also have to install a transfer switch.
AZTN:
Need two more freewaves on top of Autozone to better distribute the I40 feeds.
CERI:
Backup Liebert is physically in place. Waiting on P-plant to finish the install. We'll wire it so that it only comes on when the generator comes on. The should be a switch like the primary Liebert so that it could be manually switched to line. Chris will get with Bob for placement and with P-plant on installation.
Richardson is being replaced. Construction to begin this summer. Richardson will be demolished after the move to the new dorm--possibly sometime near the end of 2014. The current plan is to telemeter both ABB and DBB from SFTN to the WKNO tower on south campus. Its uncertain where to go from there. David thinks we have line of sight to the Zack Curlin Garage. If that's true we can repeat both the ABB and DBB to there. We may be able to get some space to move the CERI node to the Garage then use the university internet to get it to CERI.

CMGA upgrade to Reftek is scheduled for the week of 11/11.
Rack upgrade at Star Mt is scheduled for the week of 12/9.
ASTN will get the Basalt.
ISIS4. ETT, GRBT, RCGA of the STAR node and WVTN, WMTN, and LRVA of the MTTN node will get ISIS4 upgrades. Mitch thinks don't have to have the same gain at each station and can instead, turn it up at quiet sites. Once its set, we don't want it to change.

GTTN is noisy and would benefit from a quieter site.
STAR Node
Generator is not functional despite EMA's effort to repair. A bigger UPS is under construction. To be installed the week of 12/9.
BHT will be decommissioned.
BRBC Node
RBNC and CCNC need new radio pairs.
MTTN Node
The principal had someone check out connections and now NMKM,NWCC and RLAP are back. He couldn't tell me what they found but it seems like someone is messing with things. Router is mounted 8' off the floor but you can stand in a chair and reach it. I (Chis McGoldrick) also volunteered Kent to go speak to science class up there.
CJTR out 4 days ago..... Motor pool has moved out of those buildings! Not sure what we will find on that one. Waiting on phone call back.
PTGV dropped out 2 days ago also.
FCAR is down, as are X501 and X601. Scott's visit to X501 to put in a new sim card was delayed but will hopefully be done today. The cell modem at FCAR is online but the reftek isn't talking to it. This has been a familiar failure mode for refteks hooked to the Sierra wireless modem. Jim has another we can try until the roof work is complete in a month or so and we get back on the VC internet.
FCAR is getting a new roof at the visitor center. We're temporarily on a cell modem until the roof is finished probably in October. The cell modem doesn't have sufficient bandwidth to stream the HN? channels so we only have the HH? in real-time.
One 6TD returned, has flat traces. Two others forwarded to England for repair.
The seisnet group on umdrive is at http://umdrive.memphis.edu/mwithers/seisnet You will need your uuid and password.
