Tech Staff Meeting Notes September 19, 2013
The top priority is always repair of down stations.
NM problem stations
ET problem stations
We discussed the CERI general meeting. There wasn't much time for questions. It felt rushed. It would be nice to send questions to Chuck prior to the meeting. It would be nice to have another one in the spring.
The fishing trip is October 17-19.
The students are making good progress with the tech staff providing support. See the installation progress chart in the break area outside the maclab.
Routine Maintenance:
NMAD: 4
LNXT: 2
MKTA: 2
CLTN has an berm but could use a little more.

Mag. 4.0 gain range problems
These stations had problems with the gain channel during the Magnitude 4 Missouri
event on Feb 21, 2012. It isn't clear to me whether they data channels saturated
or whether there was excessive chatter in the gain channel.

GNAR needs better insulating berm.
DBB:
MKTA:
LNXT:
The generator leak is scheduled to be repaired and tank then refilled.
NMAD:
G and D and the local EMA installed a 25kW generator to power that side of the building. If there's room power-wise would they let us power the rack from it too? We could share the maintenance of the generator. We'd also have to install a transfer switch.
AZTN:
Need two more freewaves on top of Autozone to better distribute the I40 feeds.
CERI:
Backup Liebert is physically in place. Waiting on P-plant to finish the install. We'll wire it so that it only comes on when the generator comes on. The should be a switch like the primary Liebert so that it could be manually switched to line. Chris will get with Bob for placement and with P-plant on installation.
Richardson is being replaced. Construction to begin this summer. Richardson will be demolished after the move to the new dorm--possibly sometime near the end of 2014.

HDBT
PMTN will be upgraded the week of 9/30.
ASTN is on deck for a Basalt upgrade.
Several first choices for the reftek upgrade have telemetry challenges switching from 216MHz to 950MHz. So John and Jim will select an easier one for upgrade.
BGTS upgrades. John and Jim will generate a list of all Analog ET stations that do not have good telemetry at 950MHz. We'll then decide which of thse are worthwhile to search for a local IP or purchase cell modems. The rest will replace the PII boxes with BGTS (e.g. GFM and LRVA are good candidates). The goal is to retire all PII.

There is a TA station, V52A is installed nearby and a radio link should work to the top of the Green Top tower (GTTN). Holly says the data look good. The vault is about a meter diameter but it has a bilge pump. John will contact Katrin to see if we can look into it.
STAR Node
Generator is not functional despite EMA's effort to repair. A bigger UPS is under construction.
BHT will be decommissioned when PMTN is operational.
BRBC Node
RBNC and CCNC need new radio pairs.
MTTN Node
MCTY is archiving but not transmitting. Need transient suppression on long external cat5 run.
Portageville needs a new receiver.
CCAR needs an annual service.
FCAR is getting a new roof at the visitor center. We're temporarily on a cell modem until the roof is finished probably in October. The cell modem doesn't have sufficient bandwidth to stream the HN? channels so we only have the HH? in real-time.
One 6TD returned, has flat traces. Two others forwarded to England for repair.
The seisnet group on umdrive is at http://umdrive.memphis.edu/mwithers/seisnet You will need your uuid and password.
