Tech Staff Summary 8/10/01

This meeting focused on ANSS station installations. Old notes have been carryed forward for completeness but only the ANSS section has been updated.

Current Priorities in addition to routine tasks

DBB
Tower at Shelby is up. Still need to align with MKTA and add feed lines for ANSS station.
Still need permissions on Edith, Mitch will rattle chains in Nashville like that will do any good.
No word yet from Falcon but won't be a problem.
Link to Marked Tree is operational (after several radio swaps).
Edith permission is expected any day.

ANSS
Vaults are ready to go.
NSMP stations at Dyersberg and Hayti are complete.
Station TUMT is complete and sending data to CERI. Helicorders are at http://folkworm.ceri.memphis.edu/heli_k2. CBHT is operational. Still waiting on IP address.
Roughin of SFTN is almost finished. (still needs a couple cable terminations.
Agcenter roughin is scheduled for monday 8/13. Permission to poke through NWS firewall has been denied. Will now need to wait for the VPN expected later this year.
Recon visit to MSCC in west Memphis is scheduled for wed 8/15 9AM.
CUSEC is good to go, hopefully get roughed in week of 8/13. Crew is expected sometime 8/13-8/15 to mark existing buried cables. Permission to poke through TEMA firewall is granted--mitch is working on getting an ip address.
Sent letter to Memphis Public Works to get I-40 reference permission.
Chris/Jim will visit Crestview in Covington for a recon.
Greg is finalizing permission for Jonesboro.
Chris/Jim will work on permission for GLAT.

Routine Maintenance
There are 12 LNXT node stations left to do. Several stations weren't done due to access problems.

NSN
LRAL is up.

ET
Mitch has installed new mondo disk on gollum and will move it to rnbworm to provide space needed to add MTTN stations and future DBB.
John is waiting on callback from cable company for Cumberland Gap.
John will call Steve to coordinate Athens alternatives. Need line of site with Star Mountain and some kind of continuous connection. Steve found out that Athens does have a nailed up ISDN with an ISP and is looking into options to at least get picks out to the world. Will require a normal node in Athens and removing the two BSD boxes.

PII
Need to test and calibrate 15 units on CERI campus before summer
Then inventory P/PII on South Campus

IRIG SOH.
Need to record the SOH channel from the gps clocks to know when sync is lost (they will continue to produce IRIGE based on internal clock).
Greg has added channel to monitor gps clock. Need an ew module that monitors and complains.

Backburner priorities.

Board Shop
A few details yet to finish.
At least for this month, we allegedly don't need a shower.
