Established in June, 1991, the Earth Sciences Library (ESL) is one of five University of Memphis branch libraries and has specialized collections related to:
- Geology
- Geophysics
- Seismology
- Earthquake engineering
- Emergency management
- Social science issues related to earthquake hazards
- Historical accounts of major earthquakes
The ESL is located at the Center for Earthquake Research and Information and has over 11,900 volumes of books, 5400 volumes of bound periodicals, and 125 current periodicals, plus other specialized media.
