Course Accomplishments:
This seminar class investigated case studies of past seismicity in the western U.S. and presented an overview of the stress state, tectonics, and geology of the region. The class conducted informal presentations and class discussions based on the reading of papers in literature. A geophysical field trip to Death Valley, California occurred during Spring Break (March 9 - 17). GPS/Topographic, Gravity, Magnetic and Seismic Surveys were conducted in the Cinder Hill area in southern Death Valley.
